Christopher Ryan

Christopher Ryan (* 25. January 1950 in Bayswater , London as Christopher Papazoglou ) is an English actor. In German-speaking countries he is best known for the role of Marshall Turtle in the British sitcom Absolutely Fabulous .

Early life

Ryan was born in the London borough of Bayswater and went to the East 15 Acting School for his acting career , where he trained from 1968 to 1971. His professional acting career began in 1971 at the Glasgow Citizens Theater .

Acting

Ryan was the only member of the Young Ones cast who wasn't well known in British comedy circles (other members included Alexei Sayle and Rik Mayall ). He was cast at the last minute to replace Mike for which Peter Richardson was originally planned.

In 1987 he starred in the short-lived BBC sitcom A Small Problem. He played Lucky in Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot at the Queen's Theater in 1991, with fellow Young Ones Mayall and Edmondson.

He later appeared in the role of Dave Hedgehog in Bottom.

Ryan achieved great fame in the German-speaking world through his participation in Absolutely Fabulous , in which he performed regularly as one of Edina's ex-men Marshall Turtle between 1992 and 2012.

Ryan also had an episode role on the most popular British sitcom of all time, Only Fools and Horses . He also made an appearance in the spin-off The Green Green Grass.

He was in Mr. Bean Goes Back To School as well as in two episodes of My Family .

In addition to an appearance in Doctor Who in 1986, 2008 and 2010, he dubbed the role of Professor Percy for the episode Chimpanzees Ahoy! of the American cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants .

Ryan was also seen in the films Santa Claus and Dirty Weekend .

From December 17, 2013 to January 19, 2014, Ryan performed as Baron Hardup in the play Cinderella at the Theater Royal, Norwich .
