history

In the course of industrialization in the 19th century, the population in Deuben, which belonged to the parish of Döhlen , grew strongly. This made it necessary to build a new church and found an independent parish . After a year of construction, the Christ Church was consecrated on the 1st of Advent in 1869.

The design for the building came from the architect August Pieper in 1867. It is considered the first independent neo-Gothic church building in the Dresden area .

The organ was completed in 1871 by Jehmlich Orgelbau Dresden after two years of construction. It was later partially rebuilt.

In 1874 the parish of Deuben was founded and the church was detached from Döhlen.

In 1957 the three chilled cast iron bells were wound into the tower. They sound in es ′, ges ′, as ′.

In 1986 the church had to be closed due to construction defects. In addition to sponge infestation in the roof structure, the main reason for this was the dilapidation of the tower. It was renovated in 1988.

On January 1, 1999, the parishes of the Christ Church Deuben, the Emmaus Church Potschappel , the Luther Church Döhlen , the Hope Church Hainsberg and the Georgen Church Somsdorf founded the Evangelical Lutheran Lutheran Church. Parish Freital.

The flood in August 2002 caused great damage to the church building. In the years that followed, the Christ Church was extensively renovated. Between 2014 and 2017, the Jehmlich organ from 1871, which was damaged by the moisture from the floods in 2002 and recently failed completely, took place between 2014 and 2017. The cost of organ renovation amounted to around € 310,000.

On January 1, 2014, the parish united to Ev.-Luth. Parish Freital.
