Chroantha ornatula is a Wanzenart from the family of stink bugs (Pentatomidae).

features

The bugs are 11 to 12.5 millimeters long. The basic color varies between green and brown. They have three light spots on the base of the label and two smaller light spots in the front area of ​​the pronotum. The corium is brightly dotted. The membrane is transparent.

distribution

The species occurs in the western Palearctic . It is represented in the entire Mediterranean area (holomediterranean). It occurs on the Iberian Peninsula , in North Africa, on the Canary Islands , in southern France, Italy, Greece, in the Black Sea region, in the Caucasus in the Near and Middle East and in Central Asia.

Way of life

Chroantha ornatula is a polyphagous species of bug. They are found on Agriophyllum , on salt herbs ( Salsola ), on sod ( Suaeda ), on Sesbania , on Arabian gum acacia ( Vachellia nilotica ), on sweet acacia ( Vachellia farnesiana ) and on zygophyllum . The bug species causes feeding damage in pistachio plantations. There are usually two generations a year. The adults and nymphs overwinter.
