Prensdorf is a district of the municipality of Dahmetal in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg .
Geographical location and etymology
The district is a few kilometers north of Dahme / Mark . The river Dahme forms the southern end of the district on a larger stretch . The municipality of Steinreich is located north of Prensdorf . This is followed in a clockwise direction by the Liebsdorf , Zagelsdorf , Dahme / Mark and Rietdorf districts .
The name pren is derived from the Slavic language and means something like swamp , which is due to the abundance of water in the region.
history
Albrecht the Bear had brought Dutch Flemings to the area in the 12th century to colonize it. The village church of Prensdorf was also built during this time . The parish indicates in a notice in the church that the place was first mentioned in 1346. The houses were grouped on the Anger around the church, so that a space village was created. In 1388 Prensdorf was sold to the Archdiocese of Magdeburg as Perdinstorff along with other surrounding towns . The ownership changed little by little when the von Schlieben came to the region and in 1532 Georg von Schlieben settled down as Kötter . From 1562 it is known that there was a sexton and a school in the village , while the parish was located in the neighboring village of Zagelsdorf. In the hilly terrain, the place was largely spared from destruction away from the military roads, including during the Thirty Years' War . The chronicle reported of individual courtyards that were in desolation , but the church and the surrounding buildings remained undamaged. In 1664, craftsmen built a water mill on the Dahme . In 1883 a fire broke out in which half of the village fell victim to the flames. 1920 opened parish one in an adjoining forest cemetery , ending the hitherto well-kept tradition to bury the dead in the church garden.
