Chucamarca is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Chucamarca is the central place of the canton Chucamarca in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Yaco in the province of Loayza . The village of Yaco is the most populous place in the Municipio Yaco and is located in the Serranía de Sicasica mountain range at an altitude of 4004 m .
geography
Chucamarca lies between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands in the east. The region has a typical daytime climate in which the mean temperature differences between day and night are greater than the temperature differences between the seasons.
The mean average temperature of the region is just under 7 ° C and fluctuates between 3 ° C in June / July and 9 ° C in November / December (see Caxata climate diagram). Annual precipitation is 500 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to July and monthly precipitation of more than 100 mm in January and February.
Transport network
Chucamarca is located at a distance of 215 kilometers by road southeast of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.
From La Paz, the asphalted highway Ruta 2 leads west to El Alto , from there 129 kilometers to the south Ruta 1 via Sica Sica to Konani . Here a country road branches off to the northeast and leads over 73 kilometers via the villages of Villa Puchuni and Tablachaca to Chucamarca .

Due to the historical population development, the Aymara population is predominant in Yaco , in the Municipio Yaco 97.5 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
