The Municipio Yaco is a district in the La Paz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio Yaco is one of five Municipios of the Province of Loayza and is located in the south-eastern part of the province. It is bordered by the municipality of Luribay to the northwest , the province of Aroma to the west, the department of Oruro to the south, the province of Inquisivi to the east , and the municipality of Malla to the north .

The municipality has 64 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Yaco with 577 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality, the second largest place in the municipality is Tablachaca with 516 inhabitants. ( 2012 census )

The municipality of Yaco is located at an average altitude of 2500  m in the Serranía de Sicasica cordillera , between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands in the east. The mean average temperature of the region is 12 ° C, the annual precipitation is 500 to 600 mm, with a pronounced dry season in the months of June and July.
