Chuck Henderson

Charles "Chuck" Henderson (born December 12, 1955 in Princeton ) is an American soprano saxophonist of world jazz . Today he lives in Munich.

Live and act

Henderson began learning alto saxophone in fifth grade. In the next few years he played in school bands; In 1975 he attended Berklee College of Music , where he studied with Bill Pierce and Ray Copeland . He was only active as a professional musician since 1984; among others he has appeared with Cecil Payne , Woody Shaw and Junior Cook . In 1989 he moved to Europe, where he first performed with Billy Mitchell , Red Holloway , Doug Lucas, Lou Blackburn , Red Richards, Red Callender and Oliver Jackson . Then he worked in Copenhagen with Ernie Wilkins and in Berlin with Reggie Moore, Ralph Van Duncan, Rudy Stevenson and Walter Norris . Since 1991 he has been with Embryo for eight years , with whom he toured Europe and Japan; he also played with musicians like Okay Temiz , Charlie Mariano , Mohamed Mounir and Houssaine Kili . He also worked with Mal Waldron and Steve Reid , with whom he also recorded, and was part of George Greene's Hotline Band .
