history

Postcard greeting from Quartschen

From 1232 the place was a seat of the Knights Templar . The order received the village Quartschen from Duke Heinrich I of Silesia as a gift. A commandery in Quartschen is mentioned from 1282; however, it is not known when it was founded. In 1291 the Commandery Quartschen became the residence of Provincial Master Bernhard von Eberstein (1291), a son of Ludwig I von Everstein . A provincial chapter was held here.

In 1318 after the dissolution and expropriation of the Templar Order, the Quartschen Commandery and its property were transferred to the Order of St. John . The Johanniter coming was later converted into a royal domain office. There was also a distillery and a water mill in Quartschen. Until 1945 the village was in the district of Königsberg (Neumark) , administrative district of Frankfurt in the province of Brandenburg .
