Cirillo Dell'Antonio

Cirillo Dell'Antonio (also Cyrillo ; born October 27, 1876 in Moena , Trentino ; † June 7, 1971 in Trier , Rhineland-Palatinate ) was a German-Italian wood sculptor and medalist as well as the author of urban planning and architecture projects.

Life

Cirillo Dell'Antonio came from the Fassatal in Tyrol . His father was a nail smith and also let his son learn this craft before he took him to Val Gardena to train as a sculptor at the age of 16 . He worked first with August Runggaldier , then with Josef Moroder Lusenberg and finally as artistic director in the Franz Martiner publishing house in Ortisei . He married his teacher's daughter, Emma Moroder. From 1903 Dell'Antonio was a teacher at the wood carving school Bad Warmbrunn (Lower Silesia), from 1922 director of this school. Under his directorate, Günther Grundmann and Otto Zirnbauer were teachers at the school.
