Cirilo de Alameda y Brea OFMObs (born July 9, 1781 in Torrejón de Velasco , † June 30, 1872 in Toledo ) was a Spanish cardinal and archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

In 1805 he made his profession . He worked as a religious priest in Uruguay and Brazil . From 1817 to 1823 he was Minister General of his order.

On September 30, 1831 he was appointed Archbishop of Santiago de Cuba . He was ordained episcopal on March 12, 1832, by the Archbishop of Seville Francisco Javier de Cienfuegos y Jovellanos with the assistance of Domingo de Silos Santiago Apollinario Moreno OSB and Vicente Román y Linares . On March 7, 1849 he was made Archbishop of Burgos and on August 3, 1857 Archbishop of Toledo . In the consistory of March 15, 1858 Pope Pius IX raised him . to the cardinal.

When he died on June 30, 1872, at the age of 90, he was the oldest cardinal at the time.
