Cities in Motion is an economic simulation published in 2011 by the computer game developer Colossal Order. The publisher is Paradox Interactive . On April 2, 2013, the successor Cities in Motion 2 was published.

Gameplay

The player takes on the construction of a transport company and follows a concept that is similar to the game Verkehrsgigant . Over a period of 100 years, the player can create a public transport network in a total of seven available cities ( Vienna , Berlin , Amsterdam , Helsinki , Munich , Bucharest and the fantasy cities of Rivercity and Kapalla).

Will Wright , Chris Sawyer and Hans Schilcher (producer and game developer at JoWooD ) made contributions to game development .

The four European capitals Berlin, Helsinki, Amsterdam and Vienna as well as from version 1.0.21 Munich are available to the player. From 1920 to 2020 he is responsible for creating local public transport . In addition to the usual bus , tram and underground transport options , there is also the option of boat and helicopter routes . The player builds tracks and subway rails as well as metro stations. The construction of a subway is elevated , at ground level or underground, whereby there are three different depth levels underground. Over 30 different vehicles are available.

Cities in Motion also has a simulated economy. The fares are to be adjusted depending on the economic phase. Failure to pay attention to the economy leads to a drop in revenue or passengers and a bad reputation .

Fire-fighting operations, traffic accidents, demonstrations and parades, among other things, cause major congestion problems.

The game has a map editor that can be used to create your own maps. These are often published in forums on this topic.
