The Ciuffenna is a 22 km long river in the province of Arezzo , Tuscany , classified as a torrente . It flows southwest from the Pratomagno and flows into the Arno as a right tributary in the Valdarno (Valdarno Superiore) .

course

The Ciuffenna rises on the western side of the Pratomagno mountain (summit cross Croce di Pratomagno , 1592 m) below and south of the hill (Poggio) Varco di Castelfranco (1267 m) and runs from there in a south-westerly direction. The first tributary is the Borro del Diavolo from the left, then it flows around the town of Rocca Ricciarda , a district of Loro Ciuffenna (943 m) , to the west . From here it flows to Gorgiti (644 m) and further south just before the main town of Loro Ciuffenna the Borro di San Clemente (7 km) flows in from the left. In Loro Ciuffenna (330 m) there is a discharge that feeds the old water mill ( Mulino ad acqua ) and then feeds the water back to the main arm. The watermill was built in the 12th century and is considered the oldest watermill in Tuscany. After 12 km in the municipality of Loro Ciuffenna, the Torrente now reaches the municipality of Terranuova Bracciolini. Here it first passes the Penna district (202 m) and then reaches the main town (156 m). After the village and after passing the railway line Florence – Arezzo and the Autostrada A1 it serves as the right tributary of the Arno.
