Casper Klynge

Casper Klynge (born June 27, 1973 in Gentofte ) is a Danish diplomat . He was the Danish Ambassador to Nicosia from 2013 to 2014 and Ambassador to Jakarta from July 2014 to 2017 . Since August 2017 he has been Denmark's “Tech Ambassador” in Silicon Valley .

Life

In the Danish Armed Forces Casper Klynge was active from 1992 to 1994. He then attended high school in Frederiksberg and studied from 1994 to 1996 social and political science at the University of Roskilde . From 1996 to 2002 he studied Political Science and International Relations at the University of Copenhagen . He completed his studies with a master’s degree . During his studies he taught at the Royal Danish Defense College in Copenhagen .

Diplomatic career

In the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs he was section head of the department for Russia , CIS , OSCE and the Western Balkans in 2002 , then in 2003 he was section head of SitCen in Brussels . From 2003 to 2006 he was political advisor in the Committee for Civil Crisis Management (DGE IX) of the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union . From 2006 to 2008 he was head of the planning team for the rule of law mission of the European Union in Kosovo (EULEX Kosovo) in Pristina . He then returned to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was Head of the Secretariat of the Africa Mission from 2008 to 2009 and then Deputy Head of Department until 2010. From 2010 to 2012 he was deployed as deputy head of mission to the Danish reconstruction team of NATO in Laschkar Gah , Afghanistan . Back in Denmark he was first responsible for Afghanistan in the Foreign Ministry, then in the Africa Department.

His first assignment as ambassador was from August 2013 to July 2014 as the Danish ambassador to Cyprus . Since July 2014 he has been ambassador to Indonesia , where he is also accredited for East Timor (Timor-Leste), Papua New Guinea (since July 2015) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). In August 2017, he was named the world's first “tech ambassador”. He represents, based in Palo Alto , Denmark at the large technology groups. Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen was his successor as ambassador to Indonesia .
