Cléber Santana Loureiro (born June 27, 1981 in Olinda ( PE ); † November 28, 2016 in La Unión , Antioquia , Colombia ) was a Brazilian soccer player . Originally from Sport Recife , where he won his first titles, he also played in Japan and Spain. After playing for FC Santos and FC São Paulo , among others , he moved to CR Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 .
Player career
Cléber Santana came from the youth of Sport Recife , for whose first team he also played from 2001 to 2003. Further stations were EC Vitória , the Japanese team from Kashiwa Reysol and the Brazilian top club FC Santos . In his career he managed to win four regional championships and a youth cup in his Brazilian homeland, but he was not granted a national title.
In summer 2007 he transferred to Atlético Madrid . For the 2008/09 season he was awarded to the RCD Mallorca . In 2010 he returned to Brazil and initially played for São Paulo FC . In 2011 he was awarded to Athletico Paranaense and the first division relegated Avaí FC . With Avaí, where he became a crowd favorite, he immediately won the State Championship of Santa Catarina . In mid-September 2012 he moved to the relegation-threatened CR Flamengo , where he reported back in his first game on September 23 against Atlético Goianiense with a goal in the Brazilian Série A.
Santana died in the crash of LaMia flight 2933 on November 28, 2016. On December 2, 2016, the South American football association Conmebol posthumously declared the club the winner of the 2016 Copa Sudamericana .
