Clara von Goßler , also Klara von Gossler (born March 27, 1827 in Berlin ; † December 19, 1864 ibid), was a German pianist and composer .

Life

Origin and family

Clara von Goßler was a daughter of the Public Prosecutor General and Really Secret Chief Justice Conrad Christian von Goßler and his second wife Henriette Charlotte von Rumohr (1786–1845). She came from the Goßler family . The district administrator Eugen von Goßler (3rd line of the noble family) was her brother. Her stepbrothers were among others the Real Privy Councilor and Minister of State Gustav Albert von Goßler (1st line of the noble family) and the Prussian Chancellor Karl Gustav von Goßler (2nd line of the noble family).

Artistic creation

According to contemporaries, Clara von Goßler is said to have been an outstanding pianist and composer, but her sphere of activity was mainly in the private sphere. Nevertheless, some pieces are available as Op. 1 to Op. 4 and has been dealt with in some contemporary reviews . Robert Franz had also examined several of her compositions, which is evident from an exchange of letters with Arnold Senfft von Pilsach .

She was very good friends with Theodor Storm , whom she met through her stepbrother Karl Gustav von Goßler in Berlin in 1854. Op. 2 and Op. 3 dedicated it to Theodor Storm personally in a letter in 1864. Theodor Storm wrote to Theodor Fontane in 1864 that the unfortunately were " excellent ". She later became the godmother of his daughter Lucie.

On the occasion of Theodor Storm's 200th birthday, the works Die Lieb'ist wie ein Lullaby and And Do You Ask Why were performed so cloudy in 2017 in Wolfenbüttel.
