Career

Claude Vilgrain, who emigrated to Canada with his family as a child , began his career as an ice hockey player with the Laval Voisins , for which he was active in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League from 1980 to 1983 . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1982 in the sixth round as a total of 107 players by the Detroit Red Wings , for which he never played. After the attacker was on the ice for three seasons for the University of Moncton team, he played from 1986 to 1988 in numerous games for various national teams of Team Canada . On June 18, 1987, the native Haitian finally received a contract with the Vancouver Canucks , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1987/88 season .

Before the 1988/89 season Vilgrain received no place in the Vancouver NHL squad, whereupon he was transferred to the New Jersey Devils shortly before the end of the trade deadline , where he predominated for their farm team , the Utica Devils played from the American Hockey League . During his only full NHL season, the winger scored 46 points, including 19 goals, in 71 games in the 1991/92 season . He also got two scorer points, including one goal, in seven playoff games.

On August 3, 1993, Vilgrain moved as a free agent to the Philadelphia Flyers , for which he, however, played only two games in the NHL in the following season, in which he remained pointless and punished. The rest of the season he was active for their AHL farm team, the Hershey Bears . The Olympian then played for the first time in Europe , where he was initially under contract for three years from 1994 to 1997 for SC Herisau from the Swiss National League B , as well as one season each in the German Ice Hockey League with the Frankfurt Lions and the SERC Wild Wings . After two more years in the Swiss NLB at EHC Biel , the attacker ended his career in 2002 at SC Bern from the National League A.
