Claudia Hamm
Claudia Hamm (* 1969 in Jena ) is a German translator , theater director , author and speaker.
Life
Claudia Hamm left the GDR with her family in 1983 and studied philosophy and German at various locations. From 1999 Claudia Hamm worked as a theater director and dramaturge for the Deutsches Schauspielhaus , the barracks at the Deutsches Theater Berlin , the Vienna Burgtheater , and the Lucerne Theater . She developed her own plays with the theater company 15febbraio / Turin, which were mainly performed in France and Italy.
She was a lecturer for interdisciplinary forms of expression and dramaturgy at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Free University of Berlin , she also appears as a speaker and in reading performances with musicians and visual artists, her main focus is on autobiographical texts as an art of memory and readings as a separate stage format.
Hamm works as a translator of French and Italian plays and novels. In 2016 she received the literary prize of the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft , translation section, for her complete works. She was nominated for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2016 for the German version of Emmanuel Carrère's "Das Reich Gottes".
Claudia Hamm is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ. She lives in Berlin.
