From October 2000, she studied biology, zoology, paleontology and geography at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelm University of Bonn , where she in March 2006 with the work of The amphibians and reptiles of the Tumbesian dry forest region of Northern Peru under the direction of Wolfgang Böhme graduated has been. After completing her doctoral studies at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelm-Universität Bonn from April 2008, she received her dissertation The Herpetofauna of the Peruvian dry forest along the Andean valley of the Marañón River and its tributaries, with a focus on endemic iguanians, geckos in February 2014 and tegus (Squamata: Iguanidae, Phyllodactylidae, Teiidae) under the direction of Wolfgang Böhme and J. Wolfgang Wägele received his doctorate in natural sciences .
