Claudia Williams (born February 29, 1996 in Wellington ) is a New Zealand tennis player .
Career
Williams started tennis at the age of five. She played her first professional tournament in Wellington in February 2012. After reaching the semi-finals in June 2014, she was included in the individual world rankings for the first time.
She played her first tournament on the WTA Tour in early 2013, where she received a wildcard to qualify for the ASB Classic . However, it failed in the first round against Canadian Stéphanie Dubois with 0: 6 and 1: 6. She and her partner Paige Mary Hourigan had also received a wildcard for the doubles competition, but the two lost to Marina Eraković and Heather Watson 0: 6 and 1: 6 in the first round of the main draw.
In 2014 Williams won the doubles competition at the side of Australian Abbie Myers in Sharm el-Sheikh , Egypt , where they defeated Britt Geukens and Jasmin Ladurner in the finals with 6: 0, 4: 6 and [10: 5].
In 2017 she again received a wildcard for the individual qualification for the ASB Classic , but failed again in the first round due to her compatriot Joanna Carswell .
Williams played her last international tournament so far in November 2018. Therefore, she is no longer in the world rankings.
