Claudio Maniago (born February 8, 1959 in Florence ) is Bishop of Castellaneta .

Life

Claudio Maniago entered the Florence seminary after school. The Archbishop of Florence , Silvano Cardinal Piovanelli , ordained him a priest on April 19, 1984 . In 1988 Cardinal Piovanelli appointed him Master of Ceremonies. After he had been provisional general of the Archdiocese of Florence since 1994, he became its vicar general in 2001 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Satafi on July 18, 2003 and appointed him auxiliary bishop in Florence . The old archbishop of Florence, Silvano Cardinal Piovanelli, donated him episcopal ordination on September 8th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Ennio Antonelli , Archbishop of Florence, and Gualtiero Bassetti , Bishop of Arezzo-Cortona-Sansepolcro . As a motto he chose In manus tuas . Maniago retained his office of vicar general until 2014.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Castellaneta on July 12, 2014 . The inauguration took place on September 14, 2014. Claudio Maniago has been President of the Episcopal Commission for the Liturgy of the Italian Bishops' Conference since May 2015.

On October 28, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Order of the Sacraments .
