Claus Eberth
Claus Eberth (born September 21, 1934 in Würzburg ; † June 24, 2009 ) was a German actor .
Live and act
He was the son of the actor couple Fritz and Gertrud Eberth. After secondary school he took lessons at the acting school of the Hamburger Kammerspiele in 1957 . In the same year he made his debut at the Franconian Theater Schloss Maßbach . His next engagement took him to the Kammertheater Karlsruhe.
In 1961 he was committed to the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin and performed at the Schillertheater until 1968 . His roles here included Carl in Die Wupper , Karl in Maria Magdalena , soldier in St. Johanna and student in Maxim Gorki's Die Barbarians . From 1968 to 1976 he played on the Wuppertal stages . Here he embodied Biff in Death of a Salesman , Benedict in Much Ado About Nothing and Timon in Timon of Athens .
In 1976 he moved to the Münchner Kammerspiele . His starting role was Wachtmeister Werner in Minna von Barnhelm (1976), his numerous other roles include Roger in Jean Genet's The Balcony (1976), the title role in King Oedipus (1977), Theseus / Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream (1978), Beaumarchais in Clavigo (1979), Toby Rülp in Was ihr wollt (1980), Danton in Dantons Tod (1980), Orestes in Iphigenie auf Tauris (1981), Master Anton in Maria Magdalena (1981), the title character in Amphitryon (1982), Pozzo in Waiting for Godot (1984), Sultan Saladin in Nathan the Wise (1984), Clov in Endspiel (1985), Achilles in Troilus and Cressida (1986), Walter in The Broken Jug (1986), the title role in Uncle Vanya (1987 ), Glassworks Director in Gerhart Hauptmanns Und Pippa tanzt! (1988), Dr. Wangel in The Woman from the Sea (1989), Boll in Ernst Barlach's The Blue Boll (1991), Count Kent in King Lear (1992) and James Tyrone in One Long Day's Journey into the Night (1997/98).
After his farewell performance as Colonel Kottwitz in the Prince of Homburg , he continued his career in 2001 at the Bavarian State Theater. He embodied the pastor in August Strindberg's Der Vater (2001, Residenztheater ), Diafoirus in The Imaginary Sick (2005, Residenztheater) and Hamm / Nagg in Endspiel (2007, Marstall ). In addition, the father of two sons and a daughter was involved in several television productions and feature films.
