Cleckheaton is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees the English county of West Yorkshire . According to the 2001 census, it had a total of 14,937 inhabitants.
history
Originally at Birstall , the place became quite prosperous in the 14th century due to textile processing. At the beginning of the Industrial Revolution , the good coal quality in the north led to the establishment of eleven carding factories by 1838 .
From 1915 the incorporation of Liversedge ( Domesday Book : Livresec) and Gomersal led together in what was then called Spenborough , which was transferred to the Metropolitan Borough Kirklees from 1974 .
Even today, Cleckheaton and Liversedge, located south of Mirfield , which is postal assigned to Wakefield , are administratively combined.
geography
Cleckheaton is about three miles south of Bradford . The A638 A-road runs through the city and meets the M62 and the M606 in a roundabout in the north .
