Cleveland is a city in Liberty County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located in the northwest corner of the county, in the southeast of Texas, is in the south about 100 km from the Gulf of Mexico , in the east about 120 km from Louisiana and has a total area of ​​12.5 km² without significant water surface.

history

In 1854, Father Peter La Cour built a church near today's town, around which a small settlement was formed. In 1878 a small town had formed and Charles Lander Cleveland donated land to maintain a train station for the Houston East & West Texas Railway (now the Southern Pacific Railroad ). The place was then named after him.
