Cliff Simon (born September 7, 1962 in Johannesburg ) is a South African actor .

Simon is the only son and the youngest of four children of Emmanuelle and Phyllis Simon. In his childhood he was successful in both swimming and gymnastics. But in order to be able to concentrate on one sport, he decided to swim in his youth. Because of the tumult in South Africa, the parents emigrated to the United Kingdom . Simon qualified for the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles . However, he did not participate and went back to South Africa. A gymnast was wanted for a performance while he was working at a resort . Here his stage career began. After further stations, he made it to a role as an actor in the Moulin Rouge in 1989 . Back in Africa, he won a casting in a talent competition in the very successful television series Egoli: Place of Gold in 1992 , where he starred for six years. In 1997 he married his longtime girlfriend Colette. In 2000 he decided to emigrate to the USA . He became known to a wider public through the role of the cynical extraterrestrial "god" Ba'al in the series Stargate - Command SG-1 .
