Cocaine Godmother is an American drama about the life of the notorious drug trafficker Griselda Blanco , who became the drug queen in the 1970s and 1980s and was one of the most brutal and successful heads of the Medellín cartel in the United States. The film premiered at the Camerimage Film Festival in November 2017 . On January 20, 2018, it was also shown in the US on Lifetime .

The cast includes Catherine Zeta-Jones as Griselda Blanco, Jenny Pellicer as Carolina (one of Griselda's female lovers), Raul Mendez as Dario (business partner of Pablo Escobar and Griselda's third husband), Jose Julian as Uber (Griseldas second eldest son), Juan Pablo Espinosa as Alberto (one of Griselda's employees and her second husband), and Warren Christie as Jimmy (a DEA agent who chased Griselda Blanco).

Trivia
A previously untitled Griselda Blanco film by HBO with Jennifer Lopez and The Godmother from First Born Films with Catalina Sandino Moreno in the lead roles is also currently being produced . A release date of the two films is not yet known. For the film The Godmother , planned since 2014 , Catherine Zeta-Jones had also applied for the lead role; however, she was not called to the cast because Griselda Blanco was Colombian and Zeta-Jones is Welsh.
