Colin Goldner

Guntram Colin Goldner (* 1953 in Munich ) is a German psychologist who also works as a non-fiction author and science journalist.

Life

After training as an educator and working in the anti-authoritarian children's shop movement until 1976, Goldner studied social pedagogy / adult education in Munich until 1980 with a degree in social education (FH) and psychology and cultural anthropology in Munich and Los Angeles until 1988 with a PhD . In 1990 he went on to study journalism in Hohenheim . From 1988 he headed a state-recognized college for nursing professions in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . From 1992 he worked for some time as a development worker in Nepal.

His work focuses on sects , "psycho cults", occultism, alternative medicine and salvation teachings from all over the world. He was best known for his critical books on Tendzin Gyatsho (the current Dalai Lama ) and Bert Hellinger and his family constellations. His book on the psycho scene set standards for counseling work.

As a psychologist, Goldner deals with the consequences that the use of psychotechnics causes in people seeking advice and help. Since 1995 he has been head of the “Forum Kritische Psychologie eV”, a “non-profit information and advice center for people who have suffered therapy and psychological cult” near Munich. Since 1988 he has been writing for Psychology Today and for the quarterly magazine materials and information at the time (MIZ), since 2006 also for the Humanist Press Service (hpd) and occasionally since the late 1980s for taz , Junge Welt and others. From 1995 to the end of 1996 he worked as an editor and until 2005 as the author of the science magazine Skeptiker .

Goldner is co-founder of the animal rights organization excellent & reasonable (formerly 4pawsnet ), and volunteers at the shelter of the Animal Friends Lower Bavaria eV He writes regularly for the quarter magazine Animal Liberation .

He is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Association of Non-Denominational and Atheists and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Open Academy . He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Giordano Bruno Foundation and the Association of German Writers .

In 2011 Goldner was entrusted with the relaunch of the Great Ape Project , which demands basic rights for great apes , and speaks about it at home and abroad. He is a member of the Society for Primatology , the Primate Education Network and the Advisory Board of the Wales Ape & Monkey Sanctuary .

The study Lifelong behind bars: The truth about gorillas, orangutans & co. In German zoos was nominated for the selection of the Knowledge Book of the Year 2014 and came second in the final selection in the “Igniter” category.
