Collini is an internationally active Austrian surface coating company . The group's headquarters (formerly also Collini-Zimmermann ) are in Hohenems in Vorarlberg.
history
The company was founded in 1898 as a scissors grinding shop by Damian Collini, an immigrant from Mortaso in Trentino, where cutlery and table utensils were soon made. In 1928 the company put Austria's first chrome bath into operation. In 1947 the plant was built in Schweizerstrasse. In 1962 a fully automatic electroplating plant (also the first in Austria) was built.
An upswing began in the 1970s / 80s and the company grew into a group of companies ( Verzinkerei Zimmermann GesmbH, 1977 with the takeover of the company in Bludesch, 1980 and 1982 establishment of the companies in Bürmoos, Salzburg and Knittelfeld, Styria, 1984 a takeover in Ravensburg, Germany). In 1989, Collini Holding AG was set up and the current operational company, Collini GmbH , the interim holding of the Collini-Zimmerman Group, OTAG Oberflächentechnik AG, was closed in the mid-2010s.
In 1989 A. Collini Besteck - Tafelgeräte Ges.mbH, which started producing cutlery and tableware from 1948 , but whose business area no longer fits into the company structure, was sold to Berndorf AG - this company still exists today. Further operations, mostly takeovers of smaller coating specialist companies, followed in 1993 in Dübendorf, Switzerland, 1999 in Vienna, 2000 in Biel, Switzerland (foundation), 2001 in Marchtrenk, 2006 in St. Pantaleon, 2008 in Judenburg (replacement foundation for Knittelfeld) In the same year, the takeover of a plant in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, 2010 in Asperg, Germany, 2012 in Civate, Italy, and this year also the establishment of a plant in Romania. At the same time, the Hohenems anodizing plant is being upgraded to the latest standards.
The group, which is still a family company today , has around 1,400 employees at 13 production sites and a group turnover of 190 million euros (2016). The group is owned equally by the Collini and Drexel families from Dornbirn ( SPAR Vorarlberg ). From Industriemagazin it is passed (as of 2012/13) in the ranking of the top 250 industrial companies in Austria to place 200th
activity
The companies of the group specialize in the refinement of base materials by coating , in particular electroplating , anodizing , hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating , as well as numerous special processes. Production is about for kitchen fittings as automotive suppliers and in the area of energy, where about pan-European wind turbine market leader.
In total, around 4,000 tons of zinc , 300 tons of nickel , 500 tons of copper , 150 tons of powder / paint and 400 kg of gold are processed annually, around 200 million kilograms of parts. Since coating is generally an environmentally critical field, special emphasis is placed on closed cycles and minimal emissions. For this, the company has received several environmental awards. The company is also involved in research and development in the field of new surface technologies.
