Coloretto is a card game by Michael Schacht that was published in 2003 by Abacusspiele . It is suitable for 3 to 5 players (new edition 2–5 players), ages 8+, and takes about 30 minutes. It served as the template for the board game Zooloretto , which became Game of the Year in 2007 .

Coloretto was on the selection list for Game of the Year in 2003 , received first place in the à la carte card game award and came in 9th in the election for the German Games Award .

Game equipment

In addition to the instructions, the game contains 63 color cards (9 cards each in 7 colors), 10 “+2” cards, one “last round” card, three joker cards, five row cards and five overview cards.

Game flow

The players try to collect cards of the same color over several rounds. In each round there is a display of several rows of cards (one row for each player). If it is your turn within a round, you have the choice of either revealing a card and placing it in any row, or taking a complete row (i.e. consisting of 3 cards) and thus getting out of the round.
