Colquencha is a country town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Colquencha is the central place of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Colquencha in the province of Aroma and is located at an altitude of 3989  m . To the east of Colquencha, the wide plain of the Bolivian highlands extends to the Serranía de Sicasica , directly to the west of the town is a north-south-facing mountain range that rises to 4,500 m.

Colquencha is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.

The annual average temperature of the region is 10 ° C (see Colquencha climate diagram), the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 7 ° C in June / July and just under 12 ° C in November. Colquencha is 68 kilometers by road south of La Paz , the capital of the department.
