The Municipio Colquencha is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio Colquencha is one of seven Municipios of the Province of Aroma and is located in the northwestern part of the Province. It borders the province of Pacajes to the west and south , the Municipio Ayo Ayo to the southeast , the Municipio Calamarca to the east , and the Municipio Collana to the north .

The municipality has 24 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Colquencha with 3,085 inhabitants in the northern part of the municipality. Other larger towns in the municipality are Marquirivi with 1,630 inhabitants and Santiago de Llallagua with 674 inhabitants. ( 2012 census )

geography

The Municipio Colquencha is located on the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3900  m , between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate, in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.

The mean average temperature of the municipality is 10 ° C (see climate diagram), the monthly mean temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 7 ° C in June / July and just under 12 ° C in November. The annual precipitation is around 500 mm, the monthly precipitation is between under 10 mm in the dry season from May to August and 125 mm in January.
