The Municipio Ayo Ayo is a district in the La Paz department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio Ayo Ayo is one of seven Municipios of the Province of Aroma and is located in the northern part of the Province. It borders the Municipio Colquencha in the northwest , the Province Pacajes in the west, the Municipio Patacamaya in the south, the Province Loayza in the east , and the Municipio Calamarca in the north .

The municipality has 75 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Ayo Ayo with 698 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality ( 2012 census ).

The Municipio Ayo Ayo is located on the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3800  m , between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east.

The mean average temperature of the municipality is a good 7 ° C (see climate diagram Patacamaya), the annual precipitation is about 450 mm. The region has a distinct daytime climate, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 4 ° C in June / July and 9 ° C in November / December. The monthly precipitation is between less than 10 mm in the months from May to August and 100 mm in January.
