The municipality of Patacamaya is a district in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The Municipio Patacamaya is one of seven Municipios of the Province of Aroma and is located in the central part of the Province. It is bordered to the west by the province of Pacajes , to the southwest by the municipality of Umala , to the southeast by the municipality of Sica Sica , to the east by the province of Loayza , and to the north by the municipality of Ayo Ayo .
The municipality has 65 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Patacamaya with 11,197 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality. The only other notable place in the municipality is Villa Patarani with 771 inhabitants. ( 2012 )
geography
The municipality of Patacamaya is located on the Bolivian Altiplano at an average altitude of 3800 m , between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east.
The mean average temperature of the municipality is a good 7 ° C (see climate diagram), the annual precipitation is around 450 mm. The region has a distinct daytime climate, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 4 ° C in June / July and 9 ° C in November / December. The monthly precipitation is between less than 10 mm in the months from May to August and 100 mm in January.
