Jatuquira (also Jatuquira Colchani ) is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Jatuquira is the central place of the canton Pusuta in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Patacamaya in the province of Aroma and is located at an altitude of 3857  m . The village is located on the banks of the Río Jachcha Jahuira , which drains periodically to the Río Desaguadero .

Jatuquira is located on the Bolivian plateau between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east. The climate of the region is a typical time of day climate , in which the fluctuations in mean daytime temperatures are more pronounced than the temperature fluctuations between the seasons.

Jatuquira is located 109 kilometers by road south of La Paz , the capital of the department.

The road then runs in a south-easterly direction to Patacamaya , where it crosses the east-west running Ruta 4 , and continues via Oruro , Potosí and Tarija to Bermejo on the border with Argentina .
