The municipality Umala is a district in the department of La Paz in the South American Andes -State Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of Umala is one of seven municipalities in the province of Aroma and is located in the southwestern part of the province. It borders the province of Pacajes to the west, the province of Gualberto Villarroel to the south, the municipality of Sica Sica to the east , and the municipality of Patacamaya to the north .
The municipality has 81 localities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is Umala with 143 inhabitants in the central part of the municipality ( 2012 census ). The only other larger town in the municipality is Cañaviri with 605 inhabitants ( 2012 census ).

The Municipio Umala is located on the Bolivian plateau between the Andes mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east.
The mean average temperature of the region is around 7 ° C, the annual precipitation is 460 mm (see climate diagram Patacamaya).
