The ships of the Combi-Dock series combine the functions of a dock - and RoRo - as well as a heavy lift ship for the first time .

These ships of the series, Combi Dock I , Combi Dock III , Combi Dock IV and the second new build of the series of the heavy lift dock ship type, put into service as Blue Giant, can be used as heavy lift ships , as RoRo ships but also as dock ships. They are loaded by K / S Combi Lift, a joint venture between Harren & Partner in Bremen and J. Poulsen Shipping in Korsør , Denmark. The ship management is the responsibility of Harren & Partner.
The hulls ( hulls ) were built from 2007 to 2009 in Gdansk at the Crist shipyard and the ships were completed between 2008 and 2010 at the Lloyd shipyard , which also operates as a construction shipyard, in Bremerhaven. The ships are 169.4 m long and 25.4 wide. The maximum draft is 6.6 m, the lowering draft 11.0 m. The measurement of the Combi Dock I and Combi Dock III is 17,341 BZR / 5,203 NRZ. The Combi Dock IV is measured with 18,118 BZR / 5,436 NRZ. The Blue Giant is 179.63 m long 25.4 m wide and measured at 18,189 GT / 5,458 NRZ. The ships fly the flag of Antigua and Barbuda , the home port is St. John's .
The ships are powered by two main engines made by MAN Diesel & Turbo SE. The Combi Dock I and the Blue Giant have two nine-cylinder four-stroke diesel engines with an output of 4500 kW each (9L32 / 40), and the Combi Dock III and Combi Dock IV have two eight-cylinder four-stroke engines with an output of 4480 kW each (8L32 / 44CR) that act on two controllable pitch propellers . The ships are equipped with Becker rudders . The ships are also equipped with a bow thruster .
Around 1385 TEU containers (420 in the hold and 965 TEU on deck) can be loaded. The ships can sail with the hatch open for extremely high loads. The rear ramp is 18 m wide, 13.8 m long and weighs 750 t. There are three electro-hydraulic cranes on the port side with 2 × 350 t and 1 × 200 t with a radius of 18 m, which can lift up to 700 t in combination.

Conversion of the Combi Dock IV
The Combi Dock IV was converted from August to the end of September 2011 at Lloyd Werft 2011. This took place u. a. the installation of a helicopter landing pad, the installation of six additional auxiliary diesels for power generation and a new control panel. The ship was renamed OIG Giant II and is to be used in the offshore market as an offshore installation by the Offshore Installation Group (OIG), a company in which Harren & Partner, Kongsberg Oil & Gas Technologies and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners hold shares. Installation and construction ship are used.
commitment
In July 2017, the Combi Dock III transferred the four-masted barque Peking from the New York harbor to the Peters shipyard in Wewelsfleth .
