Conrad Peter Bergmann

Conrad Peter Bergmann (born April 7, 1886 in Düsseldorf , Rhine Province ; † April 6, 1972 in Brixen , South Tyrol ) was a German genre and portrait painter from the Düsseldorf school and teacher at the art school in Brixen.

Life

Bergmann studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There were Eduard von Gebhardt , Claus Meyer and Julius Paul Junghanns his teachers. After the First World War he traveled and worked in the Netherlands and Switzerland , France , Austria and Yugoslavia . As an employee of the sculptor Rudolf Zieseniss , he was involved in the production of the memorial for the 1st Westphalian Field Artillery Regiment No. 7 in the Düsseldorf court garden in 1928 . In Düsseldorf he was a member of the artists' association Malkasten . In 1936 he settled in Italy , where he was represented at exhibitions in Rome , Milan and Como . From 1942 he lived in the artists' village of Anticoli Corrado near Rome. In Brixen he was a teacher at the local art school. In 1971 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, First Class .
