Constantin Preis (born May 16, 1998 in Chisinau , Republic of Moldova ) is a German athlete who has specialized in the long hurdles and also runs 400 meters and in the 4 x 400 meter relay . His greatest successes to date in the 400-meter hurdles are the title at the German Championships in 2019 and fourth place at the U23 European Championships in 2019 .

career path

Without knowledge of German price was initially in a construction class , and from the high school went his way through the junior high school to high school , where he graduated in 2018, and now via distance learning the Bachelor in Nutrition Science aims. At first he was interested in studying in Colorado ( USA ), but after a site visit and careful consideration, he discarded this plan.

Athletic career

Preis came to Germany in 2011 with his family from the Republic of Moldova and began his athletics career in Germany, because the Federal Youth Games were on the schedule in the advanced class , and since he ran away from them he joined TV Pforzheim in 1834 .

In 2015, with 14.21 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles , he was third on the DLV's annual best list of the U18s.

In 2016, a torn ligament slowed him down completely, and Preis thought about retiring from his sporting career.

In 2017 he became German U20 indoor champion on the stadium circuit and German U20 champion over 400 meter hurdles. Internationally, he finished 10th over the hurdles at the U20 European Championships .

In 2018, Preis won the title at the German U23 championships in the 400-meter hurdle distance and was runner-up in the active competition both over the long hurdles and with the 4 x 400 meter relay .

In 2019 he defended his title at the German Junior Championships and became the Active German Champion . With the relay, Preis became German runner- up. Previously, he had won 4th place at the U23 European Championships . In the fall he did not get past the lead at the World Championships .

Prize is in the perspective of the German Athletics Association (DLV).

Club affiliations

Preis has been with VfL Sindelfingen since 2018 and trains with Sebastian Marcard and Olaf Klein. Before that he was with TV Pforzheim in 1834 .
