Convolvulus nodiflorus is a plant type from the genus of the winches ( Convolvulus ) in the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae).

description

Convolvulus nodiflorus is a slightly woody, winding liana that can reach up to 5 m in length. The stems are cylindrical and tomentose with white or golden, three-pronged trichomes . A watery milky sap is formed. The leaves are alternate. The leaf blades are simple, membranous and are 2 to 4.5 cm long and 1 to 3 cm wide. Their shape can be lanceolate, egg-shaped, elliptical or rounded, towards the front they are blunt, blunt, pointed or pointed and often prickly. The base is rounded, cut off, or heart-shaped. The leaf margin is entire. The upper side of the leaf is dull and sparsely covered with two- or three-fold trichomes, the central rib is slightly protruding. The underside is densely hairy with white or golden trichomes split two or three times, the pinnate-shaped veining protrudes. The leaf stalks are slender and 0.5 to 1.5 cm long.

The inflorescences are axillary cymes with a few flowers . The peduncle is densely tomentose and about 1 cm long. The calyx is crater-shaped, the sepals are uniformly ovate, do not enlarge until the fruit is ripe, are rounded at the tip and are 3 to 3.5 mm long. The funnel-shaped crown is 1.2 to 1.5 cm long, the crown hem is covered with 5 blunt lobes. The stamens are white, the filaments 8 to 10 mm long. The ovary is white, the stigma protrudes beyond the crown.

The fruits are egg-shaped capsules about 5 mm long. The pericarp is thin and light brown in color. The seeds are about 3 mm long and hairy downy. They have two flat sides and one convex side.

The species grows in Central and South America , as well as on the Antilles .
