Cooper & Gorfer

Cooper & Gorfer is an American / Austrian artist duo consisting of Sarah Cooper (* 1974 in the USA ) and Nina Gorfer (* 1979 in Austria ).

life and work

Sarah Cooper completed a classic photographer training. Nina Gorfer studied architecture with Zaha Hadid at the University of Applied Arts Vienna . The two have been working together as an artist duo since 2006. The focus of the work of Cooper & Dorfer is the portrait , especially the female portrait. The focus is on photography, collage and illustration. For their work, the artists deal with foreign cultures and travel to many countries. They portray their models and create connections to cultural identity, people, history and place through artistic work.

Cooper and Gorfer are represented at international exhibitions, including in the Fotografiska Stockholm , the Hasselblad Center Gothenburg, the Kulturhuset Stockholm , the Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt , the National Photo Museum Copenhagen , the Lentos Art Museum Linz and the Landesgalerie Linz . Her works are in private and public collections such as the National Gallery Iceland. In 2017 Cooper & Gorfer were awarded the German Photo Book Prize for their book I Know Not These My Hands / SEEK Volume 04 . Cooper and Gorfer live and work in Gothenburg , Sweden .
