Cooper Andrews (born March 10, 1985 in Smithtown , Long Island , New York ) is an American actor who occasionally works as a stunt coordinator and sound engineer. He gained fame mainly through the recurring role of Jerry from the television series The Walking Dead .

life and career

Cooper Andrews was born to a Samoan and a mother of Hungarian Jewish descent. His mother, who worked in the Peace Corps , raised him alone. Because of their roots, he was raised in the Jewish faith . In his youth he already practiced martial arts such as Tai Chi and Kung Fu . While still at school he developed an interest in acting and began his career in independent films as an actor and also as a sound engineer . He took his first role in 2006 in the film Death of Seasons .

After further appearances in independent films , guest appearances in series such as The Red Road , Limitless , Hawaii Five-0 or SWAT followed. From 2014 to 2016 he played a supporting role as Yo-Yo Engberk in the series Halt and Catch Fire . Since 2016 he can be seen in the television series The Walking Dead in the role of Jerry , with which he became known to a larger audience.

In 2016 he played a small role in the film The Crazy Heroes Tour of Billy Lynn by director Ang Lee . In 2018 a role in Criminal Squad followed . In 2019 he starred in the DC film Shazam! the role of the foster father Victor Vasquez .
