Cornelia Schmidjell

Cornelia Schmidjell (born March 21, 1964 in Braunau am Inn , Upper Austria ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From July 6, 2011 to October 3, 2012, she was the Social Councilor in the State of Salzburg .

Life

Cornelia Schmidjell was a student at the elementary school in Hochburg-Ach from 1970 to 1974 and graduated from the Bundesgymnasium Braunau in 1982. She came to Salzburg in 1982 as a law student at the University of Salzburg . In 1987 she graduated from the Magistra . At the university she also got to know Gabi Burgstaller , who later became the governor of Salzburg .

Schmidjell began working as a lawyer in the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees from 1988 , and from 1989 she represented employees in litigation before the Salzburg Labor and Social Court. In 1999 she was appointed Head of the Labor Law Unit and in 2004 Head of the Social Policy Department.

After Erika Scharer's resignation from the Salzburg provincial government Burgstaller II in early July 2011, Cornelia Schmidjell was presented as Scharer's successor and sworn in on July 6, 2011. On September 6, 2012, Schmidjell announced that she wanted to resign on October 3, 2012 because she was no longer able to carry out her task with full strength due to her breast cancer . Walter Steidl was nominated as her successor . Schmidjell has been the regional chairwoman of Kinderfreunde Salzburg since October 2013 .

Cornelia Schmidjell is married to the lawyer Johann Schmidjell.
