Cornelius Kipng'eno arap Korir (born July 6, 1950 in Segutiet , Bomet County , Kenya , † October 30, 2017 in Eldoret , Uasin Gishu County , Kenya) was a Kenyan clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Eldoret .

Life

Cornelius Kipng'eno arap Korir received on 6 November 1982, the sacrament of Holy Orders . After pastoral work in Molo, Kituro and Nakuru, he was director of the diocesan office for vocational pastoral care and vicar general.

In 1990 he was appointed Bishop of Eldoret by Pope John Paul II . The episcopal ordination donated to him on 2 June 1990 Cardinal Jozef Tomko , prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and the co-consecrators Maurice Michael Cardinal Otunga , Archbishop of Nairobi, and his predecessor John Njenga , Archbishop of Mombasa. In 1998 he was involved in the newly founded Diocese of Kitale .

Korir has repeatedly campaigned for the observance of human rights, especially in the Kenyan Rift Valley , in the Kerio Valley and the unrest in Kenya in 2007/2008 . He was also committed to promoting education and health care in his diocese.
