The Roman Catholic Diocese of Eldoret ( lat. : Dioecesis Eldoretensis ) is in Kenya located diocese of the Roman Catholic Church , based in Eldoret .
history
Pope Pius XII founded the Apostolic Prefecture Eldoret on June 29, 1953 out of territory from the diocese of Kisumu . With the Apostolic Constitution Christianorum Societas it was raised to a diocese on October 13, 1959 and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Nairobi as a suffragan diocese.
On May 21, 1990, it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Kisumu.
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- January 11, 1968 to the Apostolic Prefecture of Lodwar and the Diocese of Nakuru ;
- April 3, 1998 to the Diocese of Kitale .

The diocese of Eldoret includes the districts of Nandi , Uasin Gishu , Keiyo and Marakwet in the Rift Valley Province .
