history

The association was founded on October 18, 1929. It was named after the Peruvian national hero Francisco Bolognesi . Manuel Chepote became the first president of the association. Together with business people and lawyers from the local national university, the first team was formed. The players from the very beginning were the brothers Victor and Augusto Arce, Gustavo and Ruben Chiarella, Victor Manuel Albarracin, Alfonso and Roberto Eyzaguirre, Adolfo Héctor Valdez, Ovidio Velasquez, Artidoro Lanchipa and Fausto Gallirgos. Chepote chose red and white as the club colors, leaning against the Peruvian flag.

Until 1967 the team was managed as an amateur club.

In September 1976 the team reached the final of the Copa Perú , the national cup, for the first time , with a 2-0 victory over Club Sport Ancash they celebrated their first major sporting success.

Bolognesi, now a professional team, played good football in the following years and was able to celebrate minor successes from time to time. 1987 had a very good season under coach Carlos "Tito" Reyna .

In 1992 the club was relegated and for some time did not attract much attention. Under the leadership of the new President Ellen Martorell, the club made a rapid rise from 1998. First you could win the third division, the following year even the championship of the second and thus reported back to the Peruvian House of Lords. In 2001 there was the second cup success in the Copa Perú. In the final they won over CD Universidad César Vallejo . In 2003 the team qualified through the league for the Copa Sudamericana 2004. It was their first participation in this international competition. In the first game they were able to prevail against national rivals Alianza Atlético 1-0, but failed after a 1: 4 defeat in the second leg to move into the next round. 2006 followed the renewed participation in the Copa Sudamericana. Against Club Deportivo Universidad San Martín de Porres , a club from Lima, the team was able to prevail 1-0 and 3-2.

In the second round the Chilean club CSD Colo-Colo was waiting . With goals from Johan Fano and Masakatsu Sawa , they won 2-1 in front of a home crowd, but were eliminated after a 0-1 in Chile due to the away rule. In 2007, the club and the city celebrated their first championship success when they won the Clausura (second round championship). This was a big surprise, because in the Apertura, the first round championship, they only finished twelfth, i.e. last, in the league. With 36 points, Coronel Bolognesi had one point more on pursuer Universitario de Deportes . The reason for the success was the secure defense, which allowed only 15 goals against in 22 games. This was the best in the league. In the first half of the season you conceded 36 goals, more than twice as many. In the overall account (back and forth), however, they only finished seventh. Even so, the team was entitled to participate in the Copa Libertadores for the first time in 2008 .

There you met in Group 4 on the Brazilian representative Flamengo Rio de Janeiro , the Uruguayan team Nacional Montevideo and the Peruvian league rivals Club Sportivo Cienciano . On February 13, 2008, the team started with a surprise draw against Flamengo. Apart from another draw against Cienciano, these were the only points in the course of the competition. With only five goals they conceded only one goal more than the group leader from Rio, but the team did not score a goal in six encounters and were consequently eliminated.

useful information
