Corrado Lorefice (born October 12, 1962 in Ispica , Ragusa province , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Palermo .

Life

Corrado Lorefice received on 26 September 1986, the sacrament of the diaconate and 30 December 1987, the priestly ordination by Bishop Salvatore Nicolosi for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Noto .

As a young priest he was shaped by Giuseppe Puglisi ("Don Pino") and his commitment to the poor (and thus against the Mafia), about whom he wrote a book. As archpriest in Modica , he denounced the crimes of the Mafia.

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Palermo on October 27, 2015 . The episcopal ordination received his his predecessor Paolo Cardinal Romeo on 5 December of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Noto, Antonio Staglianò , and the Curia Bishop emeritus Paolo De Nicolò .
