Salvatore Nicolosi

Salvatore Nicolosi (born February 20, 1922 in Pedara , † January 10, 2014 in Noto ) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Noto .

Life

Salvatore Nicolosi studied philosophy and theology at the seminary in Catania and received on 22 October 1944 ordination . After a theological degree at the Pontifical Gregorian University , he studied canon law at the Pontifical Lateran University and the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy . For several years he was pastor at the Annunziata nella sua città natale in Pedara.

On March 21, 1963 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed Bishop of Lipari . He was ordained bishop by Carlo Cardinal Confalonieri , secretary of the Congregatio consistorialis (Consistorial Congregation), on April 21, 1963 in the Cathedral of Catania; Co- consecrators were Francesco Carpino , Archbishop of the Curia and Official of the Congregation for Bishops , and Guido Luigi Bentivoglio , Archbishop of Catania . His episcopal motto was “Questa è la nostra vittoria che ha sconfitto il mondo: la nostra fede” ( This is our victory that overcame the world: our faith. (1 Jn 5: 4)).

Nicolosi was the council father of the second, third and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .

Paul VI appointed him on June 27, 1970. to the Bishop of Noto . He was committed to the Fondazione Madre Teresa di Calcutta .

On June 19, 1998, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
