Cory Alexander Henry (born February 27, 1987 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American jazz organist and pianist, gospel musician and record producer . The Montreux Jazz Festival regards him as the best Hammond organist of his generation.

Live and act

As a child prodigy, Henry allegedly played the piano and organ at the age of two; at the age of 5 they called him Master Henry in his church because he could accompany every song on the Hammond organ, regardless of the key. At the age of six he made his debut at the Apollo Theater . He began his music career in 2006 with a tour with various mainstream and gospel artists, including Yolanda Adams , Stanley Brown , Israel Houghton , P. Diddy , Kirk Franklin . Kenny Garrett brought him into his band. He also worked with Donnie McClurkin , Boyz II Men , Michael McDonald , Bruce Springsteen , The Roots and many others. After a Christmas album Christmas with You (2010), he released Leave You Alone (2011) and Gotcha Now Doc (2012). Since 2012, Henry has been a member of the jazz and funk ensemble Snarky Puppy , with which he won the 2014 Grammy Award for best R&B performance and the Grammy for best contemporary instrumental album in both 2016 and 2017.

In 2016 Henry released the gospel-enriched live album The Revival under his own name . At the Frankfurt Jazz Festival 2017 he met the hr big band . In 2018 he released his single Trade It All with his Funk Apostles . He can also be heard on albums by Jeremy Fisher, Nina Attal , Marcus Miller and David Crosby .
