The COSCO Guangzhou was one of the construction of the largest container ships in the world. The ship was built under the hull number H1643 at the South Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan . The keel was laid on October 4th and launched on December 9th, 2005. The largest container ship in the world at the time was completed on February 22nd, 2006.
Driven COSCO Guangzhou by a MAN - twelve-cylinder - two-stroke - diesel engine with a power of 74,800 kW . The diesel engine (type: 12 K98MC), which was built under license by Hyundai Heavy Industries, was the world's first with an output of over 100,000 hp (73,600 kW).
The COSCO Guangzhou , as well as the four also delivered in 2006. Sister ship COSCO Ningbo , COSCO Yantian , COSCO Beijing and Cosco Hellas is from the Greek company Costamare Co. Shipping bereedert . All five ships are on time charter with the Chinese liner shipping company COSCO ( China Ocean Shipping Company ) for 12 years .
