Costa Ronin (born February 3, 1979 in Kaliningrad , formerly Russian SFSR , Soviet Union as Costa Chagoubatov ) is an Australian - Russian actor who became famous for the role of Oleg Burov from the series The Americans .

life and career

Costa Ronin was born in Kaliningrad, which at that time still belonged to the Soviet Union. In 1996 he moved with his mother to the New Zealand capital Wellington . He later studied international relations and political science at Victoria University of Wellington before moving to Perth in 2001 and then to Sydney , Australia.

Ronin took his first acting role in the 1996 television movie Fatal Contact: Bird Flu in America . After a few appearances in short and television films, he took on supporting roles in the films Anyone You Want and Red Dog in 2010 and 2011, respectively. After he ventured to the USA, he was able to appear in several series, including Extant , Marvel's Agent Carter , Scorpion , The Strain , Gotham or Shooter . Ronin was able to increase his fame mainly through the role of Oleg Burov from the series The Americans , whom he has played in over 60 episodes since 2014. In 2018 he took on a supporting role as Yevgeny Gromov in the seventh season of the spy series Homeland , in which he also appeared in the final eighth season in 2020.

In the 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood by director Quentin Tarantino , Ronin took on the role of the Manson Family victim Wojciech Frykowski .

Personal

Ronin is an avid sailor , which he was taught by his father and grandfather when he was 5 years old. He is also a motorcycle fan. After living in Surry Hills , a suburb of Sydney for a while, Ronin now lives in Los Angeles .
