Toni Cottura (born June 7, 1971 in Hamburg ) is a German music producer , rapper and singer .

Life

At the end of the 1980s Toni Cottura first appeared as a partner of the successful DJs David Fascher and DJ Shahin. In 1993 he founded the dance formation Fun Factory , for which he acted as a rapper, singer, producer and songwriter . In the following years the group released two albums and was able to place several singles (including Doh Wah Diddy ) in the top 20 of the German sales charts.

In 1996 Cottura left Fun Factory in order to return to his personal preference: rap music. Together with his partner Bülent Aris , he founded the Booya Music label , on which he produced numerous rap and contemporary R&B artists until 2000 , including Nana , Pappa Bear , AK-SWIFT and Ray Horton. Occasionally he was also active for a few other groups such as * NSYNC and Backstreet Boys . In 1998 he was awarded the Echo as the most successful national producer . His solo singles Da Partyboom , My Life and On & On, however, flopped.

In early 2000 Cottura left Booya Music and founded the label Tone Def Entertainment, on which he produced singers such as Siesto and Zee (also known as Daizz). With The Underdog Project he released the freestyle album It Doesn't Matter in mid-2000 ; the single Summer Jam reached number 3 in the German charts. In early 2002 he also produced some songs for the pop star group Bro'Sis .

Since 2002 Cottura has been active as Seven Gemini with DJ Shahin and has produced remixes for numerous international artists (e.g. Lil 'Kim and Bootsy Collins ). In the spring of 2003 he sang the pop song Fly , which became a radio hit, but could not establish itself commercially.

Cottura has been active in martial arts since his youth. He now holds the 5th Dan in Ninjutsu and teaches at the Ninjutsu Academy in Hamburg.

Toni Cottura was married to the rapper and TV presenter Daisy Dee for a few years , with whom he also recorded some songs together. His second wife's name is Nasseria.

Toni Cottura is the father of a daughter. He has a younger sister.

Popular culture

Toni Cottura is mentioned in Deichkind's song Schweiss und Tränen (2000) - and effectively dissed . About a narrow-track rapper it says “But it gets even more pure, his daddy sent him to Jura / and then it came out, he is now producing at Cottura.” Spax's 1998 album “Privat (style fetisch)” also includes it Piece of Popschutz (Popschowtz) a swipe at Cottura: "... Toni Tortura without feeling for good rap."
